Beechfield Lodge resident celebrates 104th birthday
A Salford care home resident has celebrated her 104th birthday with a visit from the mayor, and a telegram from King Charles.
Hilda Hall has lived at Beechfield Lodge care home off Eccles Old Road for four years.
She marked the landmark occasion with a party on Thursday 22 May, with her family and the Ceremonial Mayor of Salford, Cllr Heather Fletcher, attending. Fellow residents at Beechfield Lodge care home also joined the celebrations.
To celebrate the special day, Hilda also received a telegram from the King, wishing her a happy birthday.
Hilda grew up in Formby with her parents, where she was an only child. After leaving school, she began working in an embroidery shop in Southport, before switching to an office role.
She met her husband during the Second World War, and they married in 1944. Hilda now has two children, four grandchildren, and six great grandchildren, and nothing delights her more than spending time with her family.
Hilda became a member of the Townswomen’s Guild in the 1970s, where she was chairwoman of various committees. Her husband passed away in 1987, but she has enjoyed the support of her family following his death.
Sharon Bollesty, Home Manager at Beechfield Lodge care home, said:
Hilda’s family is incredibly important to her. We regularly set up video calls with her daughter Margaret who lives in France.
It is a pleasure to have her with us at Beechfield Lodge as she is loved by everyone.
