Anchor Climate Change Convention COP28
In December 2023, as world leaders met in Dubai for the annual COP talks to negotiate solutions to the climate crisis, Anchor held our own virtual Climate Change Convention (COP) event for colleagues and residents.
Hosted by Anchor’s Property Sustainability Team, these daily lunchtime 1-hour webinars featured discussions and presentations on a whole range of environmental subjects and welcomed a range of guest speakers to share their knowledge.

Across the week topics included:
- Food Waste: Joining us live from his demo kitchen was Jamie Clews from Robo Coupe, sharing some tasty recipes and tips on how to reduce food waste in the home.
- Climate change and our mental health: Educational Psychologist Dr Louise Edgington spoke about managing our feelings about our changing planet.
- Building Carbon-neutral homes: Engineers Etude and architects Levitt Bernstein discussed designing new homes to net zero.
- Our Be Wise Service: The Be Wise team talked through the help available to residents, including financial and energy efficiency advice and support.
The event followed on from the publication of Anchor's Sustainability Report in October, and our virtual Environmental Fayre in September that invited residents and colleagues to learn more about sustainability and Anchor’s efforts to make a positive impact on our environment.
Sarah Jones, Chief Executive said:
We all have a role to play in tackling climate change, protecting the environment, and creating a sustainable future. ‘Sustainability’ for Anchor has a broad reach across many aspects of our business plan and values, from recruitment and retention of great colleagues to ensuring that our properties are fit for a net zero future. It is vital that we hear residents’ voices in our decision making, and that we share what we are doing with them. The Environmental Fayre and now our Climate Change Convention have both been great ways of bringing people together and the topic to life.
We'd like to thank all our speakers and attendees for giving your time and attention whilst we marked COP28 with this event.
